Mafat Stone Tiles

Out here at Chhota Udepur Nanded Phata, we spend most of our time around heavy slabs of stone and piles of tiles. Mafat Stone Tiles is basically a big yard where we keep everything stacked up. It gets really dusty when the wind blows through the phata, so we are always cleaning off the samples so people can actually see the colors. Moving these stones isn't easy work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the day. We have various types of stones coming in from different places and it's a lot of loading and unloading. Most of the customers are local builders or families from nearby who are fixing up their homes. They come in and walk around the stacks, touching the surfaces to see what they like. It’s not a polished showroom like you see in the city center. It’s a workplace. We have a small corner where we keep the records and sit down for tea when it's quiet. Sometimes the trucks get delayed because of the traffic at the junction, but we just wait it out. There is always something to move or a stack to rearrange. It keeps us on our feet from morning until the sun goes down. Working with stone is slow but it lasts forever. We just do our thing here every day, making sure the orders are ready for pickup.
