Jay Narayan Marble Stone Company is situated over in Karelibaug on Judges Buglow Road. We’re right across from Ved Mandir in the Bodakdev area. If you come by, you’ll see slabs of stone leaned up against the walls and probably a bit of white dust on everything. That’s just the nature of working with marble. It’s heavy work, and the sun hits this part of the road pretty hard in the afternoons. We spend our time moving these big pieces of stone around. It’s not a quiet place. There is always the sound of cutting or loading. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. Most people use Ved Mandir as the landmark to find us. It’s a busy road, so there’s always someone stopping by to ask about different types of stone. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and air conditioning. It’s mostly just the yard and the storage area. Our hands are usually rough from the work. We don't try to sound like a big corporation because we aren't. We’re just a stone yard in Karelibaug. We know the weight of the slabs and how to handle them. Every day is about the same routine of checking stock and talking to people who walk in. It’s honest work that leaves you tired at the end of the day. There’s nothing fancy about it. Just stone and a lot of lifting.
