J Catering Services is tucked away in Gulab Nagar, specifically inside the Urmila Society in Vadodara. It’s not a big commercial building or anything, just a spot where a lot of cooking happens. Most days, you can smell spices and oil from the street before you even see the gate. We started this because people needed food for their small gatherings and it just grew from there. The kitchen stays busy almost every morning. There are big metal pots everywhere and crates of vegetables sitting on the floor. It is a bit chaotic when we have a big order to get out, but we managed to find a system that works for us. The neighbors in the society are used to the delivery vans coming and going at odd hours. We don't have a front desk or a waiting room. If someone comes by, they usually just talk to us while we are prepping something. It’s hot in there, especially during the summer months, but we have a couple of old fans that keep the air moving a bit. We don't do much advertising; most people just know we are here. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day and lugging heavy containers around. But this is what we do, and we’ve been doing it right here for a long time. It feels like a family business even though we have different people helping out.
