Gujarat Plastic

Gujarat Plastic has been a part of Sayajigun Navabazar for a long time. Vadodara 13 is a busy area, and being in the middle of a market like Navabazar means there is never a quiet moment. You hear the shouting of other vendors and the constant shuffling of feet outside the door. Inside, we have stacks of plastic items reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s buckets, containers, chairs, and all sorts of small household things people need. The smell of new plastic is quite strong when you first walk in, but we don’t even notice it anymore. We spend a lot of time moving piles around to find exactly what a customer is looking for. Sometimes the dust gets on everything, so we have to wipe things down with a rag every morning. The lighting isn't the best in the back corners, but we know where everything is kept by heart. Customers come in looking for something cheap and durable. They might haggle a little bit, which is just part of how things work around here. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. Everything is written in a big ledger book with a blue pen. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep a small jug of cold water behind the counter. It’s a plain shop, but it’s been our life for years, and we know the rhythms of the market well enough to keep going.
