Down in G. I. D. C. Makarpura, you’ll find us at No. 13/ A/1. Balaji Marbles & Metal has been operating out of this industrial estate for quite some time. We’re tucked away right near Jupiter Co, which is usually the easiest way to explain where we are to people who haven't visited before. Being in the G.I.D.C. means there is always noise and movement around us, which we kind of like. We handle both marble and metal, which is a bit of a mix, but it works for us. The warehouse is big enough to keep what we need, though it’s never as organized as I’d like it to be on a Monday morning. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the metal loads coming in and making sure the marble slabs haven't got any new cracks. It’s a practical business. We don't have any flashy signs or a reception desk with flowers. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us near the back or checking the stock levels. The sun gets hot on the roof in the afternoons, so we usually take a quick break then. We’ve known the neighbors for years, and it feels like a real community here in Makarpura. We just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure everything is loaded correctly onto the transport trucks. It's nothing fancy but it works.
