Ashish Marble

Our shop is at 18 Chhani Road. We deal in marble and stone. When you walk in, you’ll see slabs leaning against the walls and stacks of tiles everywhere. It’s a heavy business. We spend our time showing people the different patterns in the stone. No two pieces are the same, which is what makes it interesting. We do a lot of heavy lifting and moving things with the crane. The floor is always covered in stone dust and water from the polishing. We don't have a polished showroom with bright lights. It's more of a yard where you can see the real material as it is. People come here when they are building a house or fixing a bathroom. We talk to them about what might look good, but mostly we just let the stone speak for itself. Chhani Road is a busy place, and we’ve been here for a good amount of time. We know the local masons and contractors who come by. It’s a straightforward trade. We get the slabs in, we cut them to size if needed, and people take them away. It's a bit messy and loud sometimes, but we like the work. It’s honest and we stay busy throughout the year. We just focus on the stone and making sure the cuts are straight enough for the floors.
