Mandikallu Farmers Producer Company Limited is up on the third floor of the Atal Block at NMAMIT. We’re in suite 9, which is part of the incubation centre there. It’s a bit different for a farmers' group to be in a college building, but it gives us a place to meet and use some of the resources there. We come from the Mandikallu area, and most of us are more comfortable in the mud than in an office with air conditioning. But we realized we needed a proper base to organize ourselves. We talk about how to get our produce to the right people and how to stop losing so much money to the transport guys. Being at the Atal Incubation Centre means we see a lot of students and researchers, which is a bit strange for us, but they have good ideas sometimes. We’re just a bunch of guys who want to see our farms succeed. We don't have any polished speeches or high-end brochures. Mostly, we have folders full of papers and a lot of phone calls to make to the different members back home. It's a lot of back-and-forth travel between the fields and the office. We are learning how to use the computers and keep the digital records straight, which takes us a bit longer than it should, but we're getting there.
