Tulsi Catering Farm

The kitchen at Tulsi Catering Farm gets really loud when we have a big order. We are located on University Road, which is always crawling with students and people heading toward the station. Keshav Nagar is a good spot for us because it’s easy for the delivery vans to get in and out, mostly. Being near Station Road means we see a lot of people passing through Pahada. We spend most of our mornings chopping vegetables and making sure the stoves are working right. It’s a lot of physical work, and our backs usually ache by the end of a long shift. We started doing this because we knew how to cook, and it just grew from there. It’s not always organized perfectly, but the food gets out on time. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble with the backup, which is always a bit stressful. We don’t really do fancy meetings or anything. We just talk over the pots and pans. University students often stop by asking if we have leftovers, but we usually plan things pretty tight. The smells from our kitchen drift pretty far down the road. It’s a busy life, especially during the wedding season when we barely get any sleep. We just keep our heads down and keep cooking until the last dish is cleaned and the floors are mopped for the night, ready to do it all over again the next morning.
