The Magician Cafe

We started The Magician Cafe on University Road in Udaipur. We are located right near the Punjab National Bank. Being near the university means we see a lot of students and young people all day long. It’s a lively area, and there is always a lot of chatter and music coming from the street. The cafe is our project, and we spend most of our time behind the counter or in the small kitchen. It’s not a fancy place with designer furniture. Most of our chairs are a bit old, and the tables have a few scratches on them, but they work just fine. We do all the cleaning and the cooking ourselves, so we’re usually pretty tired by the end of the day. Sometimes the fridge makes a weird noise or the coffee grinder gets stuck, and we just have to fix it on the fly. We don't have a big marketing budget, so we just rely on people walking by and seeing the sign. The mornings are usually quiet, which is when we do our prep work and get the milk delivered. By the afternoon, it gets quite loud and busy. We like the energy of the students, even if they stay for a long time with just one drink. It’s part of the atmosphere here. We don't have a complicated menu, just stuff we know how to make well. We just try to keep things moving and the space friendly for whoever stops in.
