Taj Lake Palace Hotel

You probably already know we are out here in the middle of Lake Pichola. Our mailing address is just P.O. Box No. 5, Udaipur 313001. Being surrounded by water means we have to do things a bit differently than hotels on the mainland. We have to boat everything in—food, linens, and people. It’s a lot of logistics that people don’t usually see. Taj Lake Palace Hotel is an old building, and old buildings need a lot of care. We are constantly fixing a leak or painting a wall. The sun reflects off the water and hits the stones all day, so it stays pretty bright. We aren't some modern glass box. We are just a group of people working on an island. It’s a quiet life out here once the boats stop running for the night. We don't have a marketing team writing this. It’s just one of us sitting at the desk. We don't want to sound like a brochure. We just want you to know it’s a real place with real people working hard. Sometimes the wind picks up and the water gets choppy, but that’s just how it is on the lake. We like it here, even if the commute involves a boat every single day. It’s just our version of a regular job. People seem to like the view, which makes the extra work worth it.
