Agarwal Sarees & Suits

If you walk down Maldas Street, you will find us at number 65. This street is always packed with people looking for clothes, especially during the wedding season. It is quite a narrow road and the noise of the crowds is something we deal with every single day. We sell sarees and suits, mostly the kind of things people wear for daily use or small functions. The shop isn't very large, but we try to fit as much stock as we can on the shelves. Sometimes it feels like we are living among the stacks of cloth. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. It is just a standard shop like the others on this lane. Usually, one of us is out front while the others are moving bundles in the back. The fans are always running because it gets quite hot in the afternoons with so many people walking by. We have seen a lot of shops change hands on Maldas Street over the years, but we have stayed right here at sixty-five. It is a lot of work keeping everything organized. We don't really bother with any of those modern marketing tricks. We just show the suits to whoever walks in and talk about the fabric. It is a very straightforward way of doing things. The morning starts with a bit of cleaning and then we wait for the first customer to arrive after the markets open up. The tea man comes by around eleven, which is the highlight of the day.
