Rama Krishna Goyal Shop

The Rama Krishna Goyal Shop is right on City Palace Road. As you can imagine, this street is always packed. There are tourists from everywhere, guides, and locals all rushing around. We open the shutters early to get ahead of the heat. Our shop is small and filled with all sorts of items. We have been here for a long time, so we’ve seen the street change quite a bit over the years. The noise of the city is something you just stop hearing after a while. Most of the day is spent standing behind the counter, talking to people who wander in. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. People just look at what they want. It gets very bright in the afternoons when the sun hits the road. We have a small stool in the corner where we take turns sitting down when the feet get tired. The inventory is stacked up high on the shelves. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific thing, but we usually know where everything is kept. Dealing with the public every day is interesting. You meet a lot of different characters. We close up when the sun starts to go down and the palace lights come on. It’s a long day, but it’s what we know. There’s no big philosophy behind it, just running a shop in a busy part of town.
