Album Shop & Textile

Album Shop & Textile is located at 138 Jagdish Marg, right on the Jagdish Temple Road. We are directly opposite Nani Gali, which is a very busy little lane. This area is the center of everything for people visiting the city. You can hear the temple bells ringing all day and the sound of guides talking to their groups. Our shop is narrow but goes back quite a way. We have stacks of albums and piles of textiles everywhere you look. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep it all neat when so many people come through the door. Being at number 138 means we see the whole world pass by. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so we usually pull down the shade a bit to keep the heat out. It’s a very old building, and the ceiling is quite low in some parts. We don’t have a lot of room to move around, but we make it work. Most of our day is spent unfolding and folding cloth or showing people the handmade books we have. The street is always loud with motorbikes and people selling things. We’ve been here for a long time, and the shop has become a second home to us. It’s just a regular place on a very famous road. We keep it simple and just focus on the items we have. There is always tea on the desk.
