Lake Pichola Hotel

If you head outside the Chandpol gate, you’ll find us. Lake Pichola Hotel is in an old part of the city, and the streets around here are narrow and winding. It’s not the easiest place to drive a big car through, but that’s part of the charm of living in Udaipur. We’re right there near the water, so the air feels a little different than it does in the city center. The building has been around for a long time and has all the quirks of an old structure. There’s always a bit of maintenance to do, like a squeaky door or a light that needs changing. We aren't a big corporate chain, so things are done a bit more personally here. Guests often sit and talk with the staff about where to go in the city. It’s a slow-paced life. We see the sunrise over the lake and the lights coming on in the evening. Our dining area is simple, and we serve what we know how to cook well. It can get a bit loud when there’s a festival nearby, as Chandpol is a busy entry point. We don't have a lot of fancy technology; we still write down a lot of things by hand. It’s just a place for people to stay and eat while they’re exploring the old city. It feels like home to us, and we hope it feels okay to others too. It is just life by the water.
