Karohi Haveli A Heritage Hote

Udaipur is full of old buildings, and ours is right there in the middle of it at Badi Holi, just outside Chandpole. It’s an old haveli, so the walls are thick and the windows are small to keep the heat out. We’ve lived and worked here for a long time. The street outside is narrow and usually full of bikes and cows, which is just how the old city is. If you head up to the roof, you can see the water and the other houses piled on top of each other. It’s a lot of stairs to climb, and they’re kind of uneven, so we always tell people to take their time. We try to keep the old style of the place without changing too much. The paint peels a bit here and there because of the dampness from the lake, but we keep on top of it as much as we can. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you might see us eating our own lunch in the corner or fixing a leaky tap. It’s not like those big modern hotels where everything is white and sterile. Here, things have a bit of character and maybe a bit of dust. People come here to see the real Udaipur, and that’s exactly what we have to show them, right here in the heart of the old town. It's a bit noisy, but it's home for us anyway.
