Golden Tulip Hotel

Our hotel is over in the Sardarpura area, right near the Gumania Petrol Pump at number 63. It’s a pretty easy landmark for people to find when they are coming into town, especially if they are heading toward MG College which is just down the road from us. Golden Tulip Hotel isn’t some massive resort, but we have enough rooms to keep us busy most of the year. The lobby is usually where I spend most of my time, talking to guests and helping them with their luggage or telling them where to find a good place to eat nearby. It’s a lot of laundry and making sure the beds are made just right, which takes up most of the morning for the staff. We get a mix of students, parents visiting the college, and people just passing through Udaipur for work. It’s a lot of work to keep a hotel clean and tidy, and there is always something that needs fixing, like a leaky tap or a lightbulb that went out. We don’t have any fancy speeches about hospitality. We just try to be helpful when people ask for things. The street outside can get a bit noisy with the traffic from the petrol pump, but once you’re inside, it’s usually okay. We’ve been here for a good while and we know the neighborhood like the back of our hand. It’s just a regular hotel run by regular people.
