We aren't interested in being the biggest name on the road, just in doing our work right. My father and uncles have been around the marble trade for as long as I can remember. We have a lot of regular drivers who stop by because they know where we are on the highway. The yard is usually full of slabs that we’ve brought in from different mines. Every piece of stone has its own look, and we spend a lot of our time sorting them so that people can find a match for their projects. It’s dusty and loud with the highway traffic just a few meters away, but you get used to the vibration of the big trucks passing by. We have a small office where we drink tea and talk about the market or the weather. There’s no pressure when people come to visit. They look at the stone, we tell them where it came from, and that’s about it. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. The marble is what it is. If someone likes a pattern, we help them get it loaded up. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and sweating in the sun, but there is a sense of pride in seeing a truck drive off with a full load of good stone. That's just how we do things here.
