Anthyodaya School. We are located in Mangalawada, which is a small area in the Tumkur district. It’s quite a rural setting, away from the big city noise. The school is a simple one-story building surrounded by some open land and a few trees. Most of our students are from the nearby farms and small houses in the village. They walk to school or come on their cycles. We don't have any big yellow school buses. The classrooms are basic with just enough benches for the kids. We have a small staff of local people who really care about the children in this community. Sometimes the rain makes the paths to the school a bit muddy, but the kids still show up. We don't have a computer lab or a big library. We have a few cupboards full of books that the children share. Life here moves at a slow pace. We follow the standard school hours and the kids play outside in the dirt during their breaks. The building needs some repairs here and there, like a bit of plastering or a new door handle, but we manage with what we have. It’s a very local operation. We aren't trying to compete with the big private schools in Tumkur town. We just want to make sure the kids in Mangalawada have a place to go to school every day.
