Indo American School

We started Indo American School here in Cheyyar quite some years back now. It is right on the Kanchipuram Main Road, so the buses and traffic go by all day long, but inside the gates, it is mostly just the sound of kids. Tiruvannamalai gets pretty hot in the summer months, and we do what we can to keep the rooms cool enough for the students to focus. Most of us who work here live nearby, so we know the families well. Some parents drop their children off on bikes while others walk through the main gate. It is a busy spot in the mornings. We have the usual classrooms and a bit of space for play. It isn't a fancy place, but the walls are painted and we try to keep things tidy. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, but that is just how it is living in this part of Tamil Nadu. The teachers spend their breaks chatting in the office or getting lessons ready for the next hour. We have seen a lot of kids grow up and move on from here. It is just a regular school where we follow the local schedule and try to get through the syllabus without too much fuss. People in Cheyyar know where we are because of the big sign out front. We keep the gates shut during school hours for safety. It’s just our daily routine here on the main road through the whole year.
