Chithiramezhi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our office is at No 127/7 in the old part of Kolappapattu, over in Perumanam. Chithiramezhi Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically a way for us to manage our crops as a group. It’s a small brick building that we’ve used for years. It’s not much to look at, but it keeps the rain off the grain. We spend our mornings talking to the farmers who come by. Everyone has their own way of doing things, so we try to find a middle ground. It’s mostly about seeds, fertilizers, and who is buying what this month. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find one of us sweeping the floor or looking over the books. It’s a practical setup. We don't spend money on things we don't need. The old part of town is quiet, which is nice for thinking. We keep a big calendar on the wall to track the planting cycles. Sometimes the meetings go on too long because everyone wants to have their say. But that’s just how it works when you’re working with neighbors. We aren't trying to be a huge company. We just want to keep the farms running and the families fed. It’s hard work, and the sun can be brutal, but we’re used to it. We just take it one day at a time here and hope for good rain.
