J. K. Distributors

Our warehouse and office are at 43/418 on Maniayammai St. in Rajajipuram. It is a tight spot and the street is usually blocked by someone unloading something. J. K. Distributors is a busy operation. We spend most of our time moving stock around and making sure the orders are correct. The building is just a big open space with a small corner partitioned off for the paperwork. It gets very hot during the middle of the day, and we only have a couple of small fans to keep the air moving. Maniayammai St. is a lively place, with kids playing and people shouting across the street. We have become a fixture in the neighborhood over the years. We do not have a big sign out front, just the address painted on the door. Most of our work is physical. We are constantly lifting boxes and loading up the small trucks that come through. It is a messy job, and the floor is always covered in scraps of tape and cardboard. We do not have a fancy system for tracking everything, just a big chalkboard and some notebooks. It works for us. We are not trying to be the biggest distributor around. We just want to get through our list of deliveries and make sure everything is in the right place. It is tiring work, but it feels good to be productive. We close up when the light starts to fade.
