Walking into our place at Ramya Colony, the first thing you notice is the smell of ink. It’s everywhere. We’re located over at 38-42 on 1St Street, just off P N Road. It’s a busy area and there’s always someone passing by. The machines we have are older ones, so they make quite a bit of noise when they’re running. You have to raise your voice a bit to be heard sometimes. We’ve got stacks of paper everywhere, different weights and colors piled up on the shelves. It’s not the cleanest looking place, but that’s just the nature of printing. There’s always a bit of grease on someone’s hands. We’ve been here since the neighborhood was a lot quieter than it is now. We know the other shop owners on the street and we usually trade stories while we’re closing up in the evening. There’s a small tea stall across the road that does a brisk business, and we’re their best customers. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. People mostly find us through word of mouth or by just seeing our sign when they’re stuck in traffic on P N Road. It’s a steady kind of life. We like the feeling of actually making something you can hold. Some days the machines act up and we have to spend hours fixing them, but that’s just part of the day. We’re just here doing our thing.
