Original Dindugal Biryani

This is our biryani shop in Puthur. The address is No 10, Vayalur Main Road. We are right in Kumaran Nagar. Trichy is famous for its food and we try to do our part by serving what we know. It’s a small shop. You can smell the spices from the street way before you see us. I wake up early every day to go to the market and get the meat and rice ready. It’s a long process to make biryani right. We don't use machines for it. It’s all done by hand in big pots over a flame. The shop gets very crowded around lunchtime. People are standing and waiting for their parcels to take home to their families. It’s a bit chaotic with everyone talking at once, but we like it that way. I've been in Puthur my whole life. This business is how I support my family. We don't have air conditioning, just some fans that spin as fast as they can to keep the heat away. The Vayalur Main Road is always busy with bikes and buses. It’s a good spot for us because people stop by while traveling. We don't serve twenty different things, just a few types of biryani and some sides. That’s what we know best. People come from all over the city sometimes because they heard about the taste. It’s just a simple, local eating house. We keep the prices fair.
