We are located at 1/89, Kalni Street in Panpuaramsuthi, which is part of the Mandhurai post in Lalgudi. Our group is called Lalgudi Thendral Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited. We picked the name Thendral because it means a gentle breeze, and we like to think of our collective as something that brings a bit of relief to the local farmers here. Living and working in Lalgudi means we are always thinking about the water and the seasons. At our small office on Kalni Street, we spend a lot of time talking about how to improve our yields and getting everyone a fair price for their labor. It isn't a professional setup with glass walls or anything; it’s more like a community gathering spot where the real work happens. We have farmers coming in from all over the Mandhurai area to talk shop. The street can get a bit muddy during the monsoon, but that’s just part of life here. We don't use big words or try to act like we’re more than we are. We are just a group of people from Panpuaramsuthi who realized that we are stronger when we pool our resources and knowledge. Every day is different, sometimes we’re dealing with pests and other times we’re celebrating a good harvest. We just take it as it comes and try to help each other out at 1/89 Kalni Street. It’s hard work, but we do it together.
