Srirangam is a busy place. West Adayavalajan Street is where we are at, specifically No.121A. It’s right there in Tiruchirappalli. Deogiri Farmer Producer Company Limited is a bunch of farmers trying to get things right. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the soil and the way the seasons go. Our office is a simple setup. You’ll see some chairs, a big table, and a lot of registers. We spend a lot of time discussing what to plant next and how to get a price that covers our costs. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning and fancy carpets. It’s just a place where work happens. Sometimes the street gets crowded with people visiting the temple, and it’s hard to move the bags around, but we manage. Being in Srirangam feels right for a producer company. We have people dropping in from all the nearby villages. We talk about irrigation, fertilizers, and who is harvesting what. It gets loud and messy sometimes, but that is part of the job. There is no script for how we do things. We just handle the problems as they come up each day. It’s a lot of physical work and a lot of talking. We are just local people keeping the farming cycle going as best as we can. We try to be fair with everyone who walks through the door.
