Tamilnadu Salon

We’ve been here on Ponnagaram 2nd Main Road for a good while now. Tamilnadu Salon is just a small place, nothing fancy like those big chains you see in the mall. Most days it’s just the sound of the fan whirring and some local news playing on the small TV in the corner. People from around Tiruchirappalli East know where to find us. We open up early and stay until the last person gets their trim. The chairs are old but they are comfortable enough for a twenty-minute sit. Sometimes the shop gets a bit crowded on Sunday mornings when everyone wants to look sharp for the week ahead. We just keep our scissors sharp and our combs clean. There’s always a bit of hair on the floor because it gets busy, but we sweep it up when there is a break. You see the same faces every month. Some kids who used to come with their fathers are now coming in on their own motorbikes. We don't have a website or any of that. Just this spot near the main road where you can get a decent haircut without much fuss. The water in the spray bottle is always cool, and we use the same blue powder we've used for years. It's just a regular shop where we do what we know. No one's in a massive rush here, unless they have a bus to catch. It's just how things go. We keep it simple.
