Nadampadom Rubber Estate

We have been working at Nadampadom Rubber Estate for quite a while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too high because once the heat hits, everything slows down. Our office is right there on Municipal Office Road. It's a busy enough spot, but we mostly focus on what’s happening with the trees. We have a post box, number 111, where all the letters go. Sometimes the mail is just bills, other times it is something important. The rubber business isn't exactly fast-paced. You wait for the sap, you collect it, and you move on to the next row. It's repetitive but there is a rhythm to it that you get used to after a few years. We don't have any fancy signs or a big lobby. It's just the estate and the work. The rain can be a real problem during the monsoon months because you can't tap the trees when they are soaking wet. We just sit in the shed and wait for it to pass. My boots are usually muddy by ten in the morning. That is just how it goes here. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we really have to. Most of the real stuff happens outside in the dirt and the shade of the trees. It is quiet for the most part, except for the birds and the occasional truck passing by on the main road. We keep at it every day because the trees don't stop growing.
