Skylark Public School

Skylark is out in Koliacode, near Venjaramoodu. It’s a nice enough area, away from the main city noise of Thiruvananthapuram. We’ve got the school building set up so it gets a decent breeze. Most of us here grew up in this part of the state, so we know the families who send their kids to us. The mornings are usually full of the sound of yellow buses pulling up and kids shouting to each other across the playground. We have a few trees that give some shade, which is where the older students like to hang out during their breaks. It’s not a place with huge fancy statues or anything. It’s just classrooms, some blackboards, and a lot of notebooks. We spend quite a bit of time fixing desks or painting over scuffs on the walls during the holidays. The staff room is usually a bit of a mess with lunch boxes and half-graded papers. We try to keep the atmosphere relaxed because kids learn better when they aren't scared. Sometimes we have small events where the parents come in, and we all just sit around and talk. It feels more like a community than a business. We just do our work, teach the lessons, and make sure the gates are locked at the end of the day. It’s a quiet life here in Venjaramoodu, and we like it that way. We've been here for years now.
