Bambino International Montessori School

Located in Kazhakootum, Thiruvananthapuram, this school is right in the middle of a very busy part of the city. It’s a Montessori place, so things look a little different inside than your average school. Instead of just rows of desks, there are more mats and low shelves with various things for the children to pick up and use. The kids are quite small, so the furniture is all tiny too. Kazhakootum has changed a lot with all the new buildings around, but our little corner stays pretty consistent. The air is often humid, and we have fans going in every room to keep it comfortable for the little ones. You can hear them singing songs or playing in the small outdoor area we have. It’s not a huge space, but it’s enough for them to run around a bit. The staff here are very patient people because dealing with toddlers all day takes a lot of energy. Parents are always dropping off bags or picking up their kids at different times. We have a small gate that we keep locked for safety, and there’s usually someone standing there to let people in. It’s a simple operation without a lot of bells and whistles. We just focus on the children and making sure they have something to do while their parents are at work. The surroundings are a mix of old houses and new shops, making it a very local spot.
