Our shop is right in Jogeshwari West at the P & T Colony, shop number 2. It’s a small place but we pack a lot of different clothes onto the racks every week. Every morning we open the shutters and start tidying up the hangers from the day before. The neighborhood is always active, so we see a lot of the same faces walking by our door. We try to keep a good mix of stuff so that when people come in, they have something interesting to look at. It’s not a big department store, just a local spot where you can drop in and browse for a bit. Sometimes the shop gets a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once, but we make it work and everyone seems to manage. We spend a lot of time sorting through new stock and making sure the displays look decent enough for the street. The lighting isn't perfect, and the space is tight, but it’s ours. We’ve seen the area change quite a bit over the years, yet we’re still here in the same little corner. Most of the people who come in live nearby in the colony or are just passing through on their way home from work. We don't do much fancy stuff, just sell clothes and talk to the regulars who stop by for a chat. It’s a simple life running a retail shop in this part of Mumbai, and we just take it one day at a time.
