Shree Viraj Dal Mill

We operate the mill over in Kalyan West on Ambedkar Road. You can find us inside the Balaji Rice Mill premises, right near Shivaji Chowk. It is a very noisy environment once the machines get going. You can hear the hum of the motors even from out on the street. Most of our day is spent moving heavy bags of grain and making sure the processing stays on track. The air is always thick with a bit of dust from the pulses, and the floor stays covered in a fine layer of powder. Working near Shivaji Chowk means there is constant chaos outside with trucks and rickshaws. We have been at this location for many years. Sometimes the power cuts out unexpectedly and everything just stops for a while. We just sit and wait it out until it comes back on. It’s physically hard work, and lifting those heavy sacks takes a toll on your back by the evening. We don’t have a proper office, just a small wooden desk in one corner where we keep the papers and the accounts. Most of the room is taken up by the big machines and the stacked stock. Regular customers from around Kalyan come by to check on their orders. The traffic on Ambedkar Road is often terrible in the afternoons, so getting things moved out can be a real struggle. We just keep our heads down and do the work day after day.
