Shilpa Beauty Saloon

Shilpa Beauty Saloon sits in Shop Number 10 of the Shanti Om Developers building. This is right on the Kalyan Shilphata Road in Thane. The Ratnajyot Hospital is quite close by, so there are always cars and ambulances passing by the front door. The road outside can get very dusty and loud with all the traffic heading through Thane. Inside the shop, things are a bit calmer. It is a space where local women come to get their threading or hair done. We have been here for some time now, and the walls have a few marks here and there from years of work. It is a practical shop with basic chairs and all the usual tools spread out on the counters. We spend a lot of the morning cleaning up and getting the water ready. There is always a lot of chatter when the neighbors stop in. Sometimes people come in just because they were at the hospital and needed a break. The Shanti Om building is easy to spot from the main road. We don't use any big signs or anything, just the name on the front. Every day is pretty much the same, starting with tea and ending with sweeping the floor. It is just a regular part of the Kalyan Shilphata area where we do what we know how to do for the people around here.
