August Organics

If you find yourself on L. B. S. Marg, look for the Indian Red Cross building. We are right across from it at No. 9 Vidya Bhavan. August Organics is a small setup, mostly just a few of us trying to keep up with the boxes coming in and out. The building, Vidya Bhavan, has that old Mumbai charm, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up again. We deal with organic products, so the office usually smells like dried herbs or earth, which is a lot better than the exhaust fumes from the road outside. L. B. S. Marg is always packed with cars, so it’s never really quiet here. We’ve got shelves stacked high with inventory, and sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in a bit, but we know where everything is. Our desks are covered in sticky notes and old tea mugs that we forget to wash. We don't have a fancy reception area; usually, you just walk in and someone will look up from their computer to say hello. It’s a practical place for people who care about what they’re putting in their bodies. We spend a lot of time checking labels and talking to farmers on the phone. It’s not glamorous, but it’s what we do. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard, so we usually have the blinds drawn by three.
