Wagle Industrial Estate is a big place, and we are tucked away at A 182/183 on Road 16Z. Thane is always crowded, and getting to the warehouse in the morning can be a bit of a struggle with the traffic. Once we are inside, it’s all about the machines. We have various packaging units in different stages of being put together. There’s usually a lot of clinking and clanking as the wrenches hit the steel. We have some heavy lifting gear to move the bigger parts around because doing it by hand would be impossible. The floor is concrete and has seen its fair share of scuffs over the years. We keep a pot of tea going for anyone who needs a break. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don't spend much time on computers unless we are ordering parts or checking a manual. Most of the knowledge is in the hands of the people who have been here for years. They can tell if a motor is running wrong just by the sound it makes. We don't go in for big speeches or fancy branding at Select Packaging Machinery. We just make sure the packaging lines are put together correctly. When a customer comes by, they usually just want to see the machine running. We clear some space, turn it on, and show them how it handles the material. It’s honest work.
