S.C.& F Ind. is situated on T.B. Rd in North Mumbai. If you know Mumbai, you know how the traffic can be on this side of town. Our place is right there in the middle of it. It’s a plain building, nothing that stands out from the outside. We’ve been operating from this address for quite a few years now. The space inside is mostly taken up by the equipment and the supplies we need for our work. We have a small corner for the office stuff. It’s usually a bit messy with blueprints or invoices lying around. The noise from T.B. Rd is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. We open up early to beat some of the heat. The ceiling fans work overtime during the summer months. We aren't a big corporation, just a local industry trying to get things done. Most of the staff lives nearby, so they walk or take the bus. We don't spend much on decorating the place. We’d rather spend that on maintaining the machines so they don't break down. It’s a practical way of looking at things. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, with new shops opening up and old ones closing down. We’re still here, though, doing our thing. We just focus on the daily tasks and making sure the work is finished on time. It’s a simple life for us.
