Rajiv Gandhi Vidyalay is situated on Mahanagarpalika Road in Nalasopara West. Being in Palghar, we are quite far from the main Mumbai city, but the area is very crowded and lively. The road outside is always full of people going to the market or heading towards the railway station. Our school building is right there in the middle of it all. We have many students who come from the surrounding chawls and apartment buildings. The classrooms are often full, and you can hear the teachers' voices echoing down the hallways. We have a simple playground, though it is mostly just a paved area where the kids stand for the morning assembly. Because it is Nalasopara, the monsoon months are quite a challenge. We have to make sure the roof doesn't leak and that the students can get to their classes without getting too soaked. The benches are made of wood and metal, and they have seen better days, but they work fine for the lessons. We don't have a big gate with a security guard in a fancy uniform; it’s just a regular entrance. The staff handles everything from teaching to fixing the lights if they go out. It is a very hands-on kind of place. Most of the parents work nearby and stop by to talk to the teachers when they have a concern. It’s a very local, community-focused school where everyone knows the rhythm of the street.
