Om Sai Flour Mill

We've been running the mill here at House No-26 for a while now. If you head down the Sai Nagar Double Road in Dvarli Pada, you’ll find us easily enough near Nevali Naka. It’s a busy spot in Kalyan East. The machines make a lot of noise throughout the day, especially when everyone brings their wheat in at the same time. We spend most of our mornings cleaning the stones and making sure the hoppers are ready for the first batch. It’s a bit of a dusty job, and by the end of the shift, there’s usually a thin layer of flour on everything, including our clothes. People from the neighborhood stop by, some just to say hello while they wait for their bags to fill up. The Ambernath Road gets pretty crowded in the evenings, so we try to get most of the heavy grinding done before the traffic peaks. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s just the grinding room and a small space to keep the sacks. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a headache, but that’s just how things are around here. We keep our tools sharp and the floor swept as much as we can. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from sunrise until we close up the shutters at night. The smell of fresh flour is something you never really get tired of, even after years of doing this every single day.
