A. R. Garments

We’re located at unit A-38 in the Mek Industrial Estate, which is over in Mumbra within the Thane district. It’s a typical industrial area, so there’s always the constant sound of heavy machinery and the smell of fabric and machine oil in the air. A. R. Garments is basically just a large room with a lot of sewing machines and long cutting tables. We don’t have a fancy office upstairs; we’re right there on the production floor with everyone else. It gets pretty busy and cramped during the peak seasons when we have a lot of garment orders to finish on time. We’ve got a small team, and most of us have been working together for a long time now. The commute to Mumbra can be a bit of a hassle with the trains and the traffic, but once we’re here, we just focus on the clothes. We don't have a website that’s updated every day or any social media managers. We just produce the garments and send them out to whoever ordered them. It’s hard work and the days can be quite long, especially when the fans aren't doing enough to beat the summer heat. But it’s what we do to get by. We take our lunch breaks together on the floor and then it's straight back to the machines. It’s a straightforward, honest way to make a living in Thane. We don't try to make it sound fancy.
