Mumbai Public School

Located over in Boisar East, specifically in New Dhandi Pada, our school is right in the middle of a growing area. Palghar has changed a lot, but this little corner feels pretty consistent. Mumbai Public School is where the local kids from the neighborhood spend their days. We start the day when the sun is barely up over the buildings. The sound of the train isn't too far off, but we get used to it. The classrooms are basic with wooden desks that have seen a lot of use over the years. We spend a lot of time making sure the kids are actually sitting down and focusing. It’s not a quiet job, that’s for sure. The playground is just a patch of ground where they run around during the breaks. We don’t have much in the way of fancy equipment, just the essentials for teaching. The parents around Boisar work hard, so we try to do our part by looking after the kids until the afternoon. Sometimes the rain in this part of Maharashtra gets really heavy, and we all have to huddle inside. It’s just a normal school life here. We focus on the textbooks and the exams. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s a place built by the community for the community. You might find some chalk dust on our clothes, but that is just part of the daily work.
