Setting up Laveena Beauty Care and Classes in Dombivli East was a lot of work. We are in Shop Number 8 of the Swanand Building, which is right by Bhadsawle Bunglow on Bhagat Singh Road. It is a bit of a tight squeeze because we don't just do beauty treatments like facials and waxing, we also teach classes. I have a few girls who come in every day to learn how to do bridal makeup or how to handle a threading needle without hurting anyone. It gets quite noisy in here with everyone talking and the sound of the traffic outside near Sarvesh Hall. Sometimes it feels a bit messy with the student kits and the beauty supplies everywhere, but it’s a working shop. I don't like those places that are so clean they feel like a hospital. Here, you might see a stray towel or a half-finished cup of tea. It's real. My customers are mostly women from the surrounding buildings who have been coming to me for years. They know I’m usually busy with a student, but they don't mind waiting a few minutes. We talk about our families and the local gossip while I work. Teaching is the hard part, trying to make sure the students get the technique right. It’s a long day, starting early and often staying late to finish a class, but it keeps me going. Dombivli is a crowded place, and we are just right in the middle of it all.
