Columbus Maritime Training Institute

Columbus Maritime Training Institute is located on the ground floor of the Mandar Building, which is part of Lok Udyan Society. We’re in Sanglewadi, right near the Raheja Complex in Kalyan West. If you come looking for us, we’re at 001 in D 5. Since we do maritime training, we get a lot of young people coming through the doors hoping to find a career at sea. The office is pretty basic—just some classrooms and a reception area. We have a lot of charts and books lying around because there’s always something to look up. Kalyan is a busy spot, and the area around Lok Udyan is usually buzzing with people. We aren't a huge university; we're just a local place where people can come to learn the basics. The instructors here have spent a lot of time on ships, so they know what they’re talking about. We try to keep things simple and practical because that’s what you need when you’re out on the water. Some days it gets a bit noisy with the traffic outside, but the students don't seem to mind much. We don't spend much on advertising or making the place look like a five-star hotel. We just focus on the training and making sure the paperwork for the certifications is done right. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way because we can actually talk to everyone who walks in.
