Chunky Bites

If you are walking around Saraswati Vasant Sa in Kandivali East, you might have seen our little spot at Shop No 1. We call it Chunky Bites. It’s not a big restaurant or anything, just a small place where we make snacks. I started this because I liked cooking things that were filling and easy to eat on the go. The kitchen area takes up most of the space, so there isn't much room for sitting, but people don't seem to mind standing and eating or just taking it home. We keep things pretty simple here. The menu is just written on a board. Some days are busier than others, especially in the evenings when school gets out or people are coming back from work. We go through a lot of ingredients every day, so we’re always chopping something or cleaning up. It gets pretty hot in here with the stove going, but that’s just how it is. We aren't trying to be fancy. We just want to make sure the food tastes okay and that people get what they paid for. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than expected if a big group comes in. My cousin helps me out during the rush hours. We've been in this part of Shahpur for a while now and most of the shops nearby know us. It's a decent spot to work and we enjoy the noise of the street. It can be tiring, but it’s ours.
