Our place, Bindiya Copra, is located right in the middle of the APMC Yard. It’s the kind of spot where there is always something going on, mostly trucks backing in and out and guys carrying heavy bags of dried coconut. Being near the Ganesha Temple is nice because you can hear the bells in the morning when things are just starting up. The yard is usually pretty dusty, and on hot days, the smell of the copra gets really strong, but that’s just how it is working here. We spend most of our time out on the floor checking the stock or talking to the drivers who come in from the farms. It’s not a quiet office job at all. The floor is concrete and stays a bit cool, which is good when the sun is beating down on the yard outside. We have our routines and we stick to them, making sure everything is piled up right and ready to go. The temple being so close gives a bit of peace to the busy atmosphere of the market area. Sometimes we just sit outside for a minute when it's not too crowded. It’s a straightforward business and we don't have time for anything that isn't practical. Most people who come by are regulars who know exactly where we are tucked away in the yard. It's just us doing our thing every day and trying to stay ahead of the weather and the market changes as best as we can.
