Yogesh General Stores

Nana Varacha is a busy part of town, and our store is right there at number 4 on Varachha Road. It’s a general store, which mostly means we have a lot of random things that people realize they need at the last minute. I’ve got boxes of matches, bags of flour, and different kinds of tea piled up everywhere. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every inch of the wall for shelving. Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in when we get a big delivery and the boxes are sitting in the aisle. I usually sit on a wooden stool near the entrance so I can see people coming in. The floor gets a lot of mud on it during the monsoon season, so I’m always cleaning. It’s a simple life, really. I open up early in the morning before the sun gets too hot and stay until the evening rush is over. Most of the people around here know me by name, and we talk about how the prices of things keep going up every month. I keep a small radio on the shelf that plays old songs to keep me company when it's quiet in the afternoons. The door squeaks a bit when you open it, but I haven't gotten around to oiling the hinges yet. It’s just a normal shop for the neighborhood, providing what people need without any fuss or fancy decorations. We just stay open and wait for the next customer.
