Bhatias

We are located on Bamroli Kalsian Street. Our shop is just called Bhatias because that’s our family name and it’s been that way since the beginning. We don't really have a specific niche; we just sell the things that we think people around here might find useful. The street outside can get pretty narrow and busy, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze getting things delivered. Inside, we have stacks of items that sometimes go all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze, but that’s the charm of an old family business. We aren't much for fancy displays or window dressing. We just put the goods out where people can see them and go from there. My cousins and I take turns running the counter. We’ve grown up in this neighborhood, so we know most of the faces that come through the door. Some days the weather is too hot and we just sit under the fan and wait for the evening breeze. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just stay open until late and make sure the door is locked tight when we leave. It’s a steady life, and we are happy to be where we are. Bamroli Kalsian Street is home to us, and the shop is just part of that home. We just try to keep things going day by day.
