Taj General Store

Our shop is on Unn Gabheni Road, right near the Iqra School in Un, Surat. Taj General Store is mostly visited by the parents and kids from the school and the people living in the nearby houses. We keep things like pencils, erasers, and notebooks, along with the usual groceries like sugar, tea, and cooking oil. The shop isn't very big, so when the school lets out, it gets really crowded with children wanting to buy small sweets or snacks. It’s a bit chaotic for half an hour, but then it goes back to being quiet. I’ve lived in Surat my whole life and worked in different shops before opening this one. The road outside can get quite muddy when it rains, and sometimes customers bring all that dirt inside, so I’m always sweeping. We have a small refrigerator for cold drinks, which is very popular during the summer months. I try to keep the prices fair because I know most of the families around here aren't rich. We don’t have any website or fancy advertisements. If people need something, they just walk over. I usually stay open until about nine at night. It’s a lot of hours on my feet, but it’s good to be my own boss. The shop is just a basic place with white-washed walls and simple shelves. That's all there is to it.
