Swastik Food Products

We are tucked away in the Adarsh Industrial Estate near the Bhaji Market. It’s unit 103 on Cross Road No 3. Being near the market means there is always noise and people moving about. Swastik Food Products is where we process everything. There’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving pallets. The air feels thick sometimes when we are working. We have a couple of old fans that try their best. We spend hours checking the labels and making sure the seals are tight. It’s not a glamorous job. My shoes are always covered in a bit of dust from the estate roads. We share a wall with a printing shop so there is always a thumping sound. We take turns making tea in the small kitchen area. Sometimes the delivery van gets stuck in the market traffic and we just wait. We know the other shop owners around here. We talk about the rain or the price of things. It’s just us doing the daily grind. We keep the registers and the notebooks on a wooden desk that’s seen better days. The light isn’t the best but we know where everything is. We just focus on getting the orders out to the people who need them. Sometimes we stay late to finish a big batch. We close the heavy metal shutters and head home when the street lights come on. It's just a regular business.
