Suraj Mithai

We've been here at City Light Road for a good while now. The shop is at K 2/5 on Chunabhatti Road, right where things get busy in the mornings. Most days start pretty early because the milk arrives and we have to get the stove going. It gets hot in the back, especially during the summer months, but you get used to it. People stop by on their way to work to grab something small or sometimes for a box of sweets if they’re heading to a relative’s house. We don't have fancy decorations or big signs. It’s just the counters and the trays. Sometimes the traffic outside gets loud, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the containers clinking. We try to keep things organized but when it’s festival time, everything feels a bit chaotic with people coming in and out all at once. Our address is easy to find if you know the area. We’ve seen the road change quite a bit over the years. New shops come and go. We just stay here doing what we know how to do. Sometimes a customer will stay and chat for ten minutes about the weather or the news. It makes the day go by faster. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. It’s a simple setup. We clean up late in the evening and get ready for the next day. That’s pretty much how it goes for us at Suraj Mithai.
