Suraj Engineering Works

Our engineering shop is located in Gotalawadi, right in the thick of things. It’s a busy area and we fit right in with the noise and the grit. We’ve got a couple of lathes and a welding station that see use every single day. The walls are a bit stained from years of oil and smoke, but that’s just how an engineering works looks. We mostly do repairs for the small factories nearby. They bring us broken shafts or gearboxes that need a bit of life put back into them. I usually have a radio playing in the background, though you can’t hear much when the grinding starts. We don't really have a set routine; we just take the work as it arrives. Some days we are done by five, and other days we stay late to finish a rush job. It’s just three of us here, so we all know how to do a bit of everything. We keep a stash of scrap metal in the corner just in case we need a small piece for a patch. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but the work is solid. We don’t bother with fancy brochures or sales talk. People know if they bring something here, we will look at it and tell them if it can be fixed. That’s how we’ve always done it. It is just a practical place for practical problems.
