About Sri Durga Sweets – Food & Beverages in Surat
Down in Adajan Dn 7, you’ll find us at Sri Durga Sweets. It’s a small place, tucked away where the locals usually walk by. We don't have a big fancy storefront with neon lights, just a simple counter and some glass cases. Every morning, the milk arrives, and that’s when the real work begins. We spend hours stirring big pots and making sure the consistency is just right for the different sweets we make. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months, but it’s what we do. Our staff is small, mostly just a few of us who have lived in the neighborhood for years. We know most of the people who come in, like the kids who stop by after school or the elders who want something specific for a puja. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. Sometimes we get a bit behind when there’s a big holiday coming up, and we have to work late into the night to keep the trays full. It’s a bit of a scramble, but we manage. The floor is usually a bit sticky by the end of the day, and we spend a good amount of time cleaning up before we head home. We also have to keep an eye on the fridge because it can be temperamental when it's really hot outside. It’s just a regular sweet shop trying to keep things going one day at a time.
